The guts of this title consist of the card game itself, populated with almost 400 actual Magic cards that can be used in play. However, in the case of Magic: The Gathering for Windows, MicroProse has cast a successful spell. Although it stands to reason that computer games based upon this property would probably be a success, an automatic assumption of accomplishment is not always warranted (see Magic: The Gathering - Battlemage). After using the link from this video and following this YouTuber's instructions, Shandalar seems to be working properly now: Įdit 4: This game is awesome! I've been playing it a lot these past few days and I'm hooked, really glad I found it.The phenomenal success of Wizards of the Coast's Magic collectible card game is unparalleled in card gaming history. I do want to get this game to work, it seems really fun from what I have played.Įdit 3: Final edit hopefully (if nothing else goes seriously wrong). I'll have to try downloading a different version or something. When I remove cards from my deck they also seem to disappear forever. I chose black as my color and managed to win my first fight against the warlock I encountered.Įdit 2: I can't find out how to access any of the new cards I get. I'll try playing on the highest difficulty for now. The game runs pretty well so far, just with Windows XP compatibility mode. All I had to do was run the setup.bat and it installed just fine. I want to say I was dumb for thinking I would need DOSBox to run this.

Also, if anyone has any tips about the older cards or what color deck I should choose for the game, I would appreciate that sort of advice as well!Įdit: thank you for all your advice. What I would mostly like to know is if there are any major compatibility issues with Windows 10 (I'll be using DOSBox) or game-breaking bugs that can be fixed with a patch. I'm fairly familiar with setting up old games and dealing with their convoluted mechanics. I like to watch ProJared's videos sometimes to chill out and I became quickly interested in this game. I know how to play Magic, although I'm only really familiar with the newer cards (from the past 5 years or so).
